Family and Lawyers Demand Justice After Advocate’s Death in Ajmer

  • Family and Lawyers Demand Justice After Advocate’s Death in Ajmer
Ajmer. The sudden death of Advocate Purushottam Jakhetia of Pushkar, admitted to Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital, has sparked outrage among the legal community in Rajasthan. Following the tragic news, former RTDC Chairman Dharmendra Rathore visited Ajmer to express his condolences and demand immediate action from the state government in response to the demands of Jakhetia’s family and the local lawyers.

Rathore, deeply moved by the loss, met with the police and administration at the hospital, urging them to take swift action on the advocates’ demands, which include compensation for the family, government jobs for family members, and stringent police action against those responsible for the attack on Jakhetia. Rathore emphasized that the death of the advocate has fueled significant anger among lawyers in Rajasthan, particularly in Ajmer and Pushkar.

“The state government must address the demands of the legal community, including providing relief for the family so that the last rites can be performed. The lawyers are deeply distressed, and immediate steps must be taken,” said Rathore. He also highlighted the ongoing issue of advocate protection, urging the government to take concrete actions to prevent such incidents in the future.

Rathore pointed out that the Congress-led Ashok Gehlot government had passed the Advocate Protection Act during its tenure, but it remains pending with the President for implementation. This was reiterated by Jaipur’s Kishanpole MLA, Amin Kazmi, who raised the issue in the assembly a day earlier. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel confirmed that the Act is still awaiting approval from the President, further delaying its implementation.

Rathore and other leaders have been vocal about the need to push for the immediate enforcement of the Advocate Protection Act, which aims to safeguard legal professionals from attacks and ensure their safety while performing their duties. He concluded by reiterating his commitment to supporting the family of Advocate Purushottam Jakhetia and ensuring that justice is served.
Rathore Slams BJP for Re-inaugurating Already Opened Constituent Club
Meanwhile, Former RTDC President Dharmendra Rathore also criticized the BJP for planning to inaugurate the Constituent Club, a project that was already inaugurated by the Ashok Gehlot government. Rathore pointed out that the club was officially opened on September 22, 2023, under the leadership of then-Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, with prominent figures like Assembly Speaker CP Joshi and Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore in attendance. He expressed disbelief that despite this, the BJP is preparing for another inauguration, scheduled for March 8, with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Rathore emphasized that Gehlot, along with other Congress leaders like Leader of Opposition Tikaram Julie and State President Govind Singh Dotasara, are now questioning the need for a second inauguration. He accused the BJP of indulging in a farce and crossing the limits of “shamelessness” by re-launching an already completed project.
